“We rescued a Beagle mix who went thru a lot of trauma from being in a shelter, to a foster family, to our apartment. She is the sweetest dog but had a really tough time adjusting.

We decided to use Nancy as our trainer and we saw immediate positive changes in our dog's demeanor, her obedience, and her bubbling personality. I grew up with dogs and had taken a course as a child. Before getting a puppy I read 2 books and consumed a lot of material. I thought I knew a good amount. But as our Labradoodle turned one, he began to exhibit shockingly unacceptable behaviors that disrupted our lives. I soon learned that the problems were well beyond my ability to solve. Nancy understood the pressure we felt. She carefully considered the nuance of our dog’s particular needs before prescribing solutions. Her lessons provided us both immediate impact as well as slow-burn techniques that are still bearing fruit two years later. 

If you’re considering hiring a dog trainer, ask them what books they’d recommend and where their training methods fit in the field. If they avoid or equivocate, they may not have the goods. Ask Nancy and she’ll give you the shelf to read and can succinctly explain where her methods come from and how they’re based on a long history of research and experience, both in the field at large and her own. 

We’d highly recommend her to anyone looking to solve or prevent problems so they can enjoy the full potential of their relationship with their dog.

“Nancy recently worked closely with me and my 9-month old Miniature Pinscher Chico. I found Nancy extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with, patient and  effective.  

Nancy takes the time upfront to really understand your pet's background and to understand what your/his training priorities are. This allows her to customize training sessions in terms of what you and your pet need most.  That said, Nancy is also incredibly flexible in changing those plans as needed. For example, I found that I was going to have to travel to Mexico with Chico much sooner than I ever expected. He had never been in a travel bag or on a flight. Nancy was able to rapidly shift the focus of our session to getting Chico comfortable in his travel "baggie." The results were truly remarkable and Chico was able to travel to Mexico patiently in his travel bag only about a week and a half later. 

Nancy will give you direction on what to focus on between sessions (homework if you will) but that is quite useful because it recognizes that some training will require practice, time and patience when she is not with you and your pet.”

Nancy had a direct positive effect, helping my partner and I to make the most of our Shih Tzu puppy's training.
